  • Kumrod Family (N Thailand)

    The Kumrods have returned to Thailand after a summer of ministry with supporting churches in the midwest. This was possible through the renewal of Ozz's visa. 


    For the coming year, Sara will continue to be on the teaching team at the boys' international school, with the  blessing of Multiply leadership (for 2026-27). This helps offset the cost of the boys' education. 


    Sara writes: "We continue partnership development (fundraising; we are at 80% of our goal) and some regular language study. I'm grateful that I can support Ozz as he continues to serve with equipping others to multiply disciples." 


    Ozz is traveling quite a bit, and often to places 10 hours away! Pray for safety for these travels and for the development of a disciplemaking movement that multiplies!

  • Carmen Owen (Kansas/N Thailand)

    Carmen gives support to the Naomi House ministry and leadership in Thailand. 


    We were glad to receive a visit at Butler from Naomi House leaders this past fall as they made a trip from Thailand!


    Please continue to pray for this ministry: 

    • For Naomi House ministry leaders Siriwan & Wichan; for energy and protection
    • For continued opportunities to encourage believers in NE Thailand (where the flooding took place) and to continue sharing the love of Jesus with the village. There will be a focused outreach there this Christmas. 
    • For Fone's family (former witchdoctors) who have opened their home for worship services, and protection as the enemy has been attacking the family with sudden  health issues. 
    • For project funding for Naomi House and missionary support for Carmen
    • For the land we are praying in faith will be a future ministry site. We have felt God is leading us to BUILD a larger space for all the new friendships being built, so that many more people can know Jesus and learn how to love Him and follow Him with their lives!

  • Ricky & Karen Sanchez (Central Thailand)

    Ricky and Karen serve with YWAM based at the Abundant Life Home (ALH) orphange, in ministry outreaches, and with the Global Sports ministry.


    Please continue to pray for: 

    - our mission team as we prepare to launch a DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Chonburi soon. Katie, Jeff, and us completed the mandatory training course this month, and are certified to open and lead a DTS! 

    - For ongoing renovations of the building that has been purchased! This will be the site of the DTS as well as a small cafe business. 

    -  for new believers from Global Sports, to be discipled by their local churches.

    - for the global sports players, as several are discerning long term missions and ministry opportunities, and hoping to study the Bible

    - new monthly donors for ALH. With the ministry expanding, we need new monthly givers!

  • Chavez Family (Peru)

    Butler Church is building a relationship with the mission work happening in Peru. On missions Sunday, we got to know Pablo & Maricela Chavez. Their family is preparing to return to Peru for a second term on January 7.  Pablo writes ... "Our hearts are joyful, thankful and sad.  Sad because in order to return to Peru for a second term we must surrender our family unity. Isaac will be staying in California to finish his senior year and to graduate from Reedley High School in May 2026 and then continue on to Reedley College. We have not found a place for him to stay, thank you to those of you who are praying specifically for a host family for him, please continue to pray for this."

  • Nzash Lumeya (Fresno)


    Praise the Lord for missions support from Butler Church!


    Praise God for our graduates serving the Lord locally and abroad: Philippines and Vietnam. 


    Pray for mission students and missionaries for Fresno. 


    Pray over the opportunities for relationship building right around Butler through available resources (like milk evangelism!) and praise for the growth of an outreach team.


    Praise God for the opportunity to travel to again Congo at the end of this summer (updates coming soon!)

Missions Updates
Our missionaries have been sharing several ministry updates! Here's a quick overview.   May 2025
  • Ricky and Karen Sanchez will be in the Fresno area for the next two weeks with the Global Sports team...we'll host some of them at Butler on Sunday, June 8! 
  • Sara Kumrod and family just arrived in Oklahoma to visit family and churches there. Pray for great connections and growing mission support. 
  • Carmen Owen just shared a Naomi House News update, with many encouraging stories from ministry and their family. 
  • Nzash Lumeya shared an update this past Sunday in the Common Ground service from the recent mission festival. Several highlights were shared in last week's newsletter also.
  • Our connection to Peru ministries is also continuing to develop with a visit planned this fall by Pablo and Maricela Chavez.

Fresno Mission Festival - May 9 & 10
Butler Church will be the host location for the 20th annual Fresno Mission Festival! Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. This event is coordinated by our missionary Nzash Lumeya and the Fresno School of Mission. 

The theme this year is "Come Back to Jesus." The Friday sessions will involve learning, worship, and prayer with an international focus. There will be ministry tables, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Saturday will include breakfast and a morning of local ministry...putting our learning into practice!

Peru Partnership Update
We have identified Peru and Multiply missionaries or church leaders there for potential future support by Butler. Updates!
> Butler was able to send a special gift at the end of 2024 toward a leadership training retreat for Peru pastors and church leaders. 
> One of our Butler couples is interested in assisting with future training events for ministry leaders in Peru.
> The Chavez family (Multiply missionaries in Peru, from central CA) will be visiting churches this year; we plan host them here at Butler Church in November!

Update from Thailand 
Last week we were praying with the Kumrod family for renewal of a visa for Ozz they family would be able to visit the US this summer. Sara writes:

"Visa was approved! 'Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.'
 
Amen! Thank you for praying with us! Please continue to keep the Kumrod family in prayer for travel logistics and the significant time they will spend in the midwest to raise support for their family and the ministry in Thailand. If possible, they will make a visit to Butler also!

Updates from Sara Kumrod
Praise God for new believers who were recently baptized! Two of these were adults who experienced God's love when the church family helped them clean up after flooding. They are visiting their neighbors to continue to share the good news!

Please pray for Christmas outreaches in three locations in Northern Thailand. On Dec 15 is an outreach at a Thai School for the Rimkhan community and that week an outreach to Doi Saket. On Dec 21 an outreach is planned at a Hmong village in Chiang Rai.

Peru Vision Trip
Pastor Scott was part of the Multiply Vision Team to Peru in October 2024. Our Missions Team has identified Peru and Multiply missionaries there for potential future support by Butler. About Missions Month

Each year, we take time as a church to hear from our missionaries serving both locally and around the world, pray over them, and to collect a special offering toward their support for the coming year. In November 2020 we expanded the celebration to fill an entire month both in person and virtually! Here we continue to highlight stories, pray, and provide ways to connect with our missionaries.  Read more here.
